Hello 477th Fighter Group, My name is Master Sgt. John Sullivan and I am the new in-service recruiter for the Air Force Reserve Command here in Alaska and I am extremely excited to be here and a part of the 477th family. I have received a very warm welcome, and I am just as happy to see the entire group so devoted to the recruiting mission.

Everyone I've met has been very enthusiastic about the mission here and eager to assist with recruiting in any way they can.

I cannot possibly thank you enough for you sincerity and the energy you bring to the mission. I am looking forward to meeting with everyone to see how I can assist and make contributions to the success of the 477th.

If anyone has any suggestions for me , or knows someone who would like to become a member of the 477th, please don’t hesitate to call 907-552-3595. Once again thanks for all you do, please be safe and have a great day!

Since President Harry S. Truman called for the formation of the Air Force Reserve in 1948, it has been a critical part of the nation's defense. Its mission is to provide combat ready forces to Fly, Fight and Win.

Operating in various locations around the world, the Air Force Reserve has evolved from a "stand by" force for emergencies into a Major Command (MAJCOM) of the Active Duty Air Force.

The Air Force Reserve currently performs about 20 percent of the work of the Air Force, including traditional flying missions
