477 FIGHTER GROUP SUPERINTENDENT

Chief Master Sergeant Neverley R. Wake is the Group Superintendent, 477th Fighter Group, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. She is the senior enlisted leader for 300 professional men and women on matters concerning morale, welfare, and readiness. Chief Wake advocates commander’s direction and policies and advises on operational effectiveness of the enlisted workforce. She is responsible for the professional development and proper utilization of enlisted Airmen in Alaska's only Reserve unit and AFRC’s first F-22 associate unit, providing a combat air power under the Total Force Enterprise concept.

Chief Master Sgt. Wake enlisted in the Air Force Delayed Enlistment Program in January 1983, after graduating from high school in Redding, California. She served nine years on active duty, performing in a wide variety of communication-computer systems operations, supervisory, and analysis positions at several facilities in Germany and California. Chief Wake resumed her military career by joining the Air Force Reserve in 2005 and completed emergency management technical training in 2007. Traditional reserve and individual mobilization augmentee assignments include various roles in emergency planning, response, CBRN defense training, command and control, and intelligence operations. She has served in direct support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and over two years on home-station backfill in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.

Prior to assuming her current position, Chief Master Sgt. Wake served as the Inspections Superintendent, 477th Fighter Group, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.
