Ashley Conner 477th Fighter Group Public Affairs JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska -- The 477th Fighter Group, Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson, Alaska currently has open positions for civilian and military employment. The available positions range from administrative support to civil engineering, offering something for everyone. The 477th FG is Air Force Reserve Command's first F-22A Raptor unit. As a Classic Associate, the unit is responsible for recruiting, training, developing and retaining Citizen Airmen to support the 3rd Wing and Expeditionary Air Force mission requirements. The 477th FG is dependent on Reservists, Air Reserve Technicians and civilians working side-by-side with the active duty's 3rd Wing to operate, maintain and support the F-22 Raptors that are assigned here. Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson is located on the outskirts of Anchorage and is approximately 360 miles from Eielson AFB in Fairbanks, Alaska. The group is comprised of nearly 500 Traditional Reservists, Air Reserve Technicians and civilians. The majority of the group is made up of Traditional Reservists whose members are only obligated to serve one weekend a month during Unit Training Assembly weekends or drill weekends and two weeks of Annual Tour a year.
