The 477th Civil Engineer Squadron participated in field exercises at Camp Mad Bull October 2-5. The four day bivouac included intensive field training designed to prepare the Airmen for their upcoming deployment. This will be the first deployment for the squadron since World War II.

During the bivouac, the 477th CES partnered with the Alaska Air National Guard's 176th Security Forces Squadron and conducted air base ground defense, weapons handling, night operations and perimeter defense. The 3rd Civil Engineer Squadron was on hand to train them on identifying Improvised Explosive Devices. In addition, Airmen received first aid, buddy care and CPR Certification and learned proper bed down procedures.

The 477th CES is a part of Air Force Reserve's 477th Fighter Group. The 477th FG is a Classic Associate unit responsible for recruiting, training, developing and retaining Citizen Airmen to support Expeditionary Air Force mission requirements.
