Col. Christopher Ogren, 477th Fighter Group Commander, presented the 477th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron colors to Maj. Rebecca Daugherty, the new 477th AMXS Commander, during an assumption of command ceremony at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson Sept. 11, 2016.

Daugherty, who came from the 482nd Maintenance Squadron at Homestead Air Reserve Base, Florida, will command more than 80 Airmen in the 477 AMXS squadron.  These Airmen work around the clock side by side their active duty counterparts ensuring missions get off the ground, launching 60 or more F-22 Raptor sorties each week.

"I'm proud of...the sacrifice and the enduring mission we have to execute," Ogren said to the new squadron commander in a speech during the assumption ceremony. "So it matters. Production matters, Sorties matter. And that's what you're here to do. You have the character and the competence to lead our Citizen Airmen.

"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to command such an amazing group of Airmen," said Daugherty. "I feel very blessed to be here. Everyone has made me feel so welcome, I'm super excited to join the 477th family."
