New Recruits

Lt. Col. John Hillyer, Commander, 477th Fighter Group administers the Oath of Enlistment to new enlistees for the Air Force Reserve in front of the Air Force?s premier fighter jet, the F-22 Raptor. The enlistees are from across the state of Alaska and will go to basic military training over the next year before becoming Traditional Reservists. Traditional Reservists are Citizen Airmen who serve one weekend a month, two weeks a year. Currently there are approximately 240 people assigned to the 477th FG. Recruiting efforts are on-going to achieve the group?s goal to have 425 Citizen Airmen by 2012. Enlistees sworn in today will be trained to perform a variety of functions including paralegal, supply, chaplain?s assistance, F-22 maintenance, and fuels. (Air Force Photo/Maj. Cary McPartlin)
