Airman 1st Class Adam Morehead, 3rd Wing Maintenance Squadron, and Lt. Col. David 'Piff' Piffarerio, 302nd Fighter Squadron, get ready to launch during Red Flag-Alaska July 30. Red Flag-Alaska is a Pacific Air Forces commander-based field training exercise for U.S. coalition forces flown under simulated air combat conditions. It provides joint offensive counter-air, interdiction close air support, and large force employment training in a simulated combat environment. Participating bases include Elmendorf and Eielson Air Force bases, Alaska, Holloman AFB, New Mexico, and Osan Air Base, South Korea. This is the third Red Flag-Alaska exercise members of the 477th FG have participated in since the group's activation in 2007, training alongside their active-duty counterparts as part of Total Force Integration.
