Hero Games 2009
The Double Deuces, the five-person team from Air Force Reserve Command’s 477th Fighter Group, participated in the first-ever Hero Games in downtown Anchorage, Alaska, June 27. The games were part of Alaska’s 50th Anniversary Celebration and sponsored by the Anchorage Downtown Partnership. The games pitted military members, including Reserve, active duty and Guard, against firefighters, police officers and other local first responders. Events included an obstacle course, water balloon volleyball, tricycle race, tug-of-war, litter carry, and a bucket brigade vehicle tow. From left: Lt. Col. Dave "Piff" Piffarerio, Tech. Sgt. Jorge "The Hellion" Mendoza, Staff Sgt. Spencer "The Guns" Walcott, and Staff Sgt. Danielle "La Femme Fatale" Foster. Out of 12 teams, the Super Guardians from the Air National Guard took first and the Anchorage Fire Department took second. The Double Deuces took fourth. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt.
