477 Fighter Group Public Affairs

Alaska Airlines stands out as one of the most supportive military employers nationally thanks to a nomination by 477th Fighter Group reservist, Major Caleb Haley. Haley, who serves as an F-22 pilot here at Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson, nominated his civilian employer Alaska Airlines for the prestigious Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Freedom Award for their dedication to people, honor for veterans through fallen warrior flights and veteran monument tours, and support for military members and their families. ESGR received 2,424 applications for this year’s Freedom Award, the highest honor the DOD gives to employers for support of National Guard and Reserve employees. Secretary of Defense Ash Carter announced the 15 winners July 11. Haley will join Alaska Airlines and the 2016 Freedom Award recipients to be honored at a ceremony in the Pentagon on Aug. 26.
