477th Fighter Group Reaches Out to New Jersey School

Chief Master Sgt. Mike Davis, First Sergeant for the 477th Fighter Group, was asked to speak at the Mary E. Volz Elementary School in Runnemede, N.J. February 23.

Chief Davis spoke to his niece's 5th grade class about what he does for the Air Force Reserve and what the his Civil Engineer Squadron will be doing when they deploy to Iraq. While the 477 CES is deployed to Iraq the students will be corresponding with the Airmen.

Chief Davis talked about being in the Air Force and about living in Alaska. The children had prepared questions about being in the service and going to Iraq.

The children listened intently and then enjoyed a lunch of pizza and soda.

Chief David gave the students stickers, F-22 posters signed buy Colonel Eric Overturf, 477 FG Commander, unit coins and baseballs.

"They were all thrilled by the experience," said Chief Davis. "It was a pleasure to speak to them about our mission in Alaska as well as our deployed mission in Iraq."
