Reservists from the 477th Fighter Group were present in Nome to welcome the winner of the 44th Iditarod, Dallas Seavey, March 15, 2016.

Maj. Steve Lee, 477th FG director of staff, Chief Master Sgt. Horace Honeycutt 477th FG Chief Enlisted Manager and Senior Master Sgt. Shawn Arnold, 477th Force Support Squadron superintendent, were all on hand to show their support and congratulate Seavey when he crossed the finish line.

Earlier this month, Seavey visited the 477th FG and swapped stories with Reservists about sacrifice and dedication then toured an F-22.

That sacrifice and dedication came into play as it took eight days, 11 hours, 20 minutes and 16 seconds to complete the race. By just under two hours, Seavey broke the previous record which he set when he won the race in 2014.

This is the second year in a row that The Reserve was a lead dog sponsor of the event in which mushers set off with 16 dogs onto 1,000-mile trek across Alaska's rugged terrain in a race that's known as, "the Last Great Race On Earth."
