There are threats that each of us need to be aware of in our daily use of social media. Ensure all social media accounts are secure; for example Instagram, Facebook, and Snap Chat. Using generic settings that each company uses can allow for unwanted attention, instead customize and use strong passwords. Also, make sure every account has limited access, only allowing people you trust to view your social media accounts is crucial for safety. The other aspects we need to be aware of are making sure all metadata is removed before posting on Facebook and other accounts by disabling location settings to your accounts, and not sharing your current location through location settings. Staying vigilant about having the most up-to-date-security measures on all electronic devices will bring secure results.

Staff Sgt. Sean Buono, 477 FG Cyber Flight Airman, also suggests using the Cyber Awareness training in ALS as a guide for setting up all social media.

For information on how to mitigate threats that could affect you, view the CDSE Ransomware training video at: http://www.cdse.edu/micro/ransomware/ransomware.html Or contact the 477 FG Cyber flight at 551-2666.
